Join a high performing team of specialized occupational therapists located out of the Highlands Ranch Therapy Care location at Children’s Hospital Colorado. This position includes evaluation and treatment of children sensory integration dysfunction and autism.  The population includes children with developmental delays, a variety of mental health conditions, etc. There are opportunities for mentorship, leadership, and supervision of therapy aides and students. Our clinic has multiple disciplines to collaborate with, including speech therapy, physical therapy, learning specialists and mental health providers. This role is an entry level position within our Career Advancement Program.  

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • EDUCATION –Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy or related field of study. 
  • EXPERIENCE – 3 years sensory integration/autism experience preferred.
  • CERTIFICATION(S) - BLS for Healthcare Providers/CPR
  • LICENSURE - Colorado State Registration for Occupational Therapy - National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy; Credentialing must be completed by the Medical Staff Office (MSO) within 3 months of employment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Collaboration: Collaborates with the family, physicians, schools and other providers to ensure continuum of care for the child and optimal clinical services.
  • Documentation: Completes written documentation in accordance with department standards for format, location and time frames.
  • Evaluation/Re-evaluations: Independently evaluates children from birth to 21 years of age, with a variety of diagnosis, in specialized programs, on inpatient and/or outpatient units. Incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services.
  • Financial Responsibility: Assists in achieving departmental financial budget targets.
  • Leadership and/or Professionalism- Demonstrates professional behaviors; adheres to hospital and departmental policies and promotes personal and departmental development through participation in development activities to improve the patient experience and quality goals of the department and hospital.
  • Provides consultation and education to families.
  • Treatment: Treat children ages birth to 21 years of age, with a variety of diagnoses, and in specialized programs on inpatient and outpatient units. Incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services. Seeks out appropriate mentoring/training and consults with relative Program Coordinator and/or assigned mentor for complex patient diagnoses.
